To five year old Jack Room is all he has ever known! It is where he was born and grew up, where he learns, reads, eats, sleeps and play with his mother. Room is home to Jack, but to his mother it is prison where Old Nick has held her captive for seven years. Jacks mother has had enough and devises a plan involving Jack to escape, but she does not expect it to work. This story is told entirely in the language of five year old Jack and highlights the limitless bond between a parent and child. This is their story of the journey from one world to another new, bigger world! With a heartwarming ending.
I awarded Room five stars as this has to be the best book I have read so far this year! I really did enjoy reading this story and cannot wait to watch the film! I would highly recommend you read this book if you haven’t already! It does start off slow but then you will be hooked, believe me. Room is an easy to read, fast paced outstanding thriller for all readers to enjoy. This story does not have chapters as it is split into four different parts. Some readers may not enjoy Room as it is written from the view of Jack, but do not let that put you off or you will miss out on this heartbreaking beautiful story. Room is the perfect story for readers who enjoy bestsellers, contemporary, suspense and thrillers, it would also make the perfect read to discuss if you are part of a book club. It is no wonder Room had been nominated for the 2010 booker prize, it really is an interesting read. Enjoy!
