Three Things About Elsie – Joanna Cannon. ★★★★★

Blurb; There are three things you should know about Elsie.
The first thing is that she’s my best friend.
The second is that she always knows what to say to make me feel better.
And the third thing… might take a little bit more explaining.

84-year-old Florence has fallen in her flat at Cherry Tree Home for the Elderly. As she waits to be rescued, Florence wonders if a terrible secret from her past is about to come to light; and, if the charming new resident is who he claims to be, why does he look exactly like a man who died sixty years ago?

My Review; Wow. Wow. Wow. Where do I even begin? Joanna is a new author to myself and I am very impressed! There is just something special, different and gripping about this story. It is a long story and big book but I actually surprised myself and devoured it within 24 hours. I just fell into the story and didnt want to leave.

I fell in love with the trio Flo, Jack and Elsie they make a brilliant team! However, do not underestimate our Flo. I found it a very refreshing story from all the thrillers I have read recently. Very well written. The beautiful cover may make you hungry though, mmm batternburg. I haven’t enjoyed a book so much in this genre since A Man Called Ove. Brilliant! A must read.

Towards the end may mess with the readers head a little (it messed with mine). This is the perfect story which does focus on dementia, it has everything… humour, hurt, friendships, happiness, sadness and surprises… But who is the new man welcomed into the Cherry Tree home?

Makes me think what I will be like when I’m an OAP and what adventures and mischief I will get up too. I enjoyed this book greatly! A well deserved five stars. I would even go as far as saying that Three Things About Elsie has already made my top 20 of 2018. I would highly recommend to you all.
